This interesting project was for the supply of a custom built Micropump to a large chemical manufacturing company in New Zealand for pumping Peroxymonosulfuric Acid, better know as Caro's Acid, which is a corrosive, hazardous and highly reactive chemical. As the exclusive distributor for Micropump in New Zealand, Pump Systems Ltd were able to offer this precise fluid control technology from a market leader in sealless, low-flow gear pumps.
To meet process requirements, the selected Series 5500 Micropump would need to be run at very slow speeds (400 to 800 rpm) to produce flows ranging from 4 up to 10 litres per minute at a differential pressure of 2.5 bar. The pump was supplied in all Hastelloy C-276 body construction, with Teflon gears and static seals to offer excellent corrosion resistance to Sulfuric Acid and Hydrogen Peroxide, both of which make up part of the preparation.
